OHIO POLITICAL PARTY FUND BOX
Ohio taxpayers have an opportunity to help improve our political system when completing their current Ohio Income Tax Return. Taxpayers can designate one dollar of their state taxes to strengthen the two party system. Checking the Ohio Political Party Fund box on their tax return will not increase the total amount of the tax they owe nor reduce the refund they receive. Why should taxpayers wish to provide support to political parties? The two party system has played an important role in the preservation of our democracy.
The political party:
is the only entity involved in the entire political process.
provides an entry point and an opportunity for the average citizen to become involved in the political process.
actively conducts voter registration programs.
recruits and encourages qualified candidates for public office.
provides voters with important information on candidates and issues so voters can make informed decisions at the polls.
helps provide qualified voters with information on voting by absentee ballot, thus increasing access to the ballot.
leads an intensive get-out-the-vote effort for Election Day.
serves as a stabilizing factor in our political system.
The Ohio Political Party Fund will provide the necessary resources for these type of grassroots efforts. This is a bipartisan program. Each dollar designated for the fund by the taxpayer is divided equally between the two major parties and between the state party and the local county parties where the taxpayer resides.
It's a good thing to do….. It costs you nothing….. It's the right thing to do.
Check "YES" for the Ohio Politcal Party Fund on your Ohio Tax Return.
IMPORTANCE OF VOTING
Nearly every day we see or hear on television, radio and in newspapers about a group or groups discussing or demonstrating for their “rights.” Unfortunately, I rarely hear or see a discussion about our “right to vote,” except maybe at election time.
On election day, there is a pitifully small percentage of eligible voters that cast a ballot. Many of the eligible voters are not even registered. Why are they ignoring or putting little or no importance on their right to vote? First Tuesday after first Monday in November (November 4, 2008).
This is when you vote for the candidates you want to represent you in the local, state and federal governments. To obtain information about the candidates, contact your local political headquarters. Please protect and exercise this most important right! Please register and vote!
Please vote on each and every election day! Your vote is important
